About

Meet Kelsey Karr, MSW, LCSW

I'm a trauma-specialized clinician in Las Vegas who works in collaboration with you to create a personal path to peace and self-acceptance. My work focuses on trauma-informed, evidence-based care, with Brainspotting as a core modality alongside EMDR, DBT, parts work and attachment-based therapy.

My life's work is supporting people in finding their value, gaining emotional regulation, and processing trauma and life stressors. My professional background includes the child welfare system, healthcare and hospice, which broadened my understanding of what people need while navigating a difficult season of life.

I see individuals, couples and families, and I work closely with the LGBTQIA+ community. In-person sessions are held near the Las Vegas/Henderson border, and telehealth is available across Nevada. Animal-assisted therapy is offered — Mowgli, my certified therapy cat, joins sessions and adds an extra layer of support and connection.

FAQ

Common questions

Answers

Questions people ask about finding a therapist in Las Vegas

Direct answers to what people actually search before booking therapy in Las Vegas.

How much does a therapist in Las Vegas cost?

Private-pay therapy in Las Vegas generally runs about $120–$200 per 50-minute session, with couples sessions at the higher end. Kelsey Karr Therapy discusses current fees during the free 15-minute consultation, so you know the cost before you book.

How do I find a good therapist in Las Vegas?

Match three things: license, specialty and fit. Confirm the clinician is licensed in Nevada (Kelsey Karr is an MSW, LCSW, NPI 1770089625), check that their specialty matches your concern — trauma, couples or relationships — and use a free consultation to test fit. Fit is the strongest predictor of whether therapy works.

What is the best therapy for trauma?

For trauma, brain-based approaches usually outperform talk therapy alone. Brainspotting and EMDR help process memories the nervous system still holds, and are often combined with parts work and attachment-focused therapy. Kelsey Karr uses Brainspotting as a core modality alongside EMDR, DBT and IFS-informed parts work.

Does couples therapy actually work?

Yes — for most couples who start before resentment hardens. Couples therapy works by making the repeating cycle visible, then changing how each partner responds inside it. Progress typically shows up in how conflict de-escalates, not in conflict disappearing.

How long does therapy take?

Focused trauma work with Brainspotting or EMDR often runs 8–20 sessions; couples therapy commonly runs 3–6 months of weekly sessions. Timelines depend on how long the pattern has been in place and whether sessions stay consistent.

Can I see a Las Vegas therapist online?

Yes. Kelsey Karr offers telehealth to anyone physically located in Nevada, including Henderson, Paradise, Spring Valley, Green Valley and Silverado Ranch, plus in-person sessions at the Warm Springs Road office in Las Vegas 89120.

Do I need a diagnosis or referral to start therapy?

No. In Nevada you can contact a licensed therapist directly — no referral or diagnosis required. Call (702) 305-5490 or send a message to book a free 15-minute consultation.

What is Brainspotting and how is it different from EMDR?

Brainspotting uses a fixed eye position to access where trauma is held in the brain, while EMDR uses bilateral eye movement through a structured protocol. Brainspotting is more open-ended and often better tolerated by clients who find EMDR's protocol overwhelming; both target the body's stored trauma response rather than the story alone.
